Back when I moved into a duplex with Z's sister, there were a few pieces of old furniture left in the house. One of them was an old dresser that I honestly hated for a long time. I spilled nail polish remover, jewelry cleaner, and lord knows what else on that thing. I have no idea why I even brought this thing with me when Z & I got married & got our own place. Wait.... Yes I do. I needed more space for my clothes. :)
But anyway, it ended up in our guest bedroom, and I slowly started to see the potential in it. Until eventually, I was sure I could make it pretty.
The top was in terrible condition, so I did a good bit of sanding.
At first I hated the drawer pulls, but then I started to love the shape. They just went with the mid-century mod feel of the whole piece, so I decided to just spruce them up.
A little Rustoleum brushed nickel spray paint, and I was convinced. SO glad I kept them!
Then I primed and painted both the drawer fronts and the frame.
My previous experience had only been with black paint, so I was shocked when it took like 5 coats of paint to make me satisfied with the finish.
So happy with the result!
It's a very boxy piece- a style I'm not usually a fan of. But you know what? It works for me. I love the clean lines. And for like $10 (in paint), you can't go wrong. ANYthing would be better than the before, so I definitely feel like I got way more than I bargained for!
What do you think? :)

Gorgeous - nicely done! I love that you were able to keep the handles. What paint did you use? Did you spray or brush it on? We need some dressers, and I think craigslist + paint is going to be my solution!
OOOO! I love it! It can fit into any color schemed room too. White goes with everything and I love that. Great job!
beautiful job!! i love it! miss crafty-craft!
Awesome! Soooo much better! Great job!
Thanks ladies! Jen- I used a Kilz primer, and the premixed Rustoleum American Accents white paint. I get the quart size can- for this whole dresser I didn't even use half. :)
it looks great. would you like to come do something about the ugly desk in my spare room?
You did an amazing job! It looks like something you could get at Ikea.
By the way, my husband has been painting some doors white. And he was shocked at how many coats of paint it took to make them look good.
soo awesome! Girl, you are so good at the re-dos! Love it!
Great job! It's amazing what a difference a couple cans of spray paint can make!
